Her first career was in higher education and counseling. She has held professional positions at The Ohio State University, Rhodes College and the University of Tennessee College of Medicine.
With over 15 years experience in the practice of law, Ms. Miller assists her clients through difficult times with strong advocacy and support and a reasoned approach to effective outcomes. Mary Jo’s areas of practice include adoption, divorce, child custody, juvenile court matters, pre-nuptials, elder issues, including wills and trusts, powers of attorney, conservatorships and probate.
The Tennessee Bar Association recognized Mary Jo’s commitment to service by designating her one of two Harris B. Gilbert Award Winners for 1997. She is a member of the Family Law Section and the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the Memphis Bar Association, the Association for Women Attorneys and the MBA Professionalism Committee.
Mary Jo was a founding member of the Association of Women Attorneys Family Mediation Center and served as the first Chair of the Board of Directors for the Community Legal Center. She has also held leadership roles with the Girls Club of Memphis, serving two terms as Chair of the Girls Club Board of Directors. In recognition of her contributions to Girls Inc, she received the Girls Inc “ She Knows Where She’s Going Award “ in 1997.
